The word "hygge" is a Norwegian term meaning "well-being", even though it is a typical Danish cultural idea. In everyday life "hygge" means feeling warm and cozy. You may also find some other descriptions of the notion like, for instance, "simple pleasures", friends, family, graciousness, good feelings, a warm glow etc. Even though all of these words and descriptions give us an idea of what "hygge" might mean, the chances of oversimplifying get greater and greater. "Hygge was never meant to be translated. It was meant to be felt." It rather refers to the entire attitude to life than to some "tentative" generalizations.
The last two Art lessons we tried to put our imagined "hygge" pictures onto paper. Not only these pictures will boldly hang in our rooms, but they will also evoke special mood, helping us to keep the balance and enter into the right spirit.
